The Uttar Pradesh government has issued instructions to all public schools mandating a minimum age of 6 years for Class 1 admissions.
Class 1 Admission 2024: School admission is one of the most important steps in a student’s academic journey, marking the beginning of their formal education. Whether the student is enrolling in primary, secondary, or higher secondary levels, the admission procedure sets the foundation for future learning experiences. From researching good schools to completing application forms and meeting admission criteria, especially the age limit, this process involves careful consideration and planning by both students and their parents or guardians.
Speaking of the Class 1 admission process, the Uttar Pradesh government has issued instructions to all public schools mandating a minimum age of 6 years for Class 1 admissions. The instructions have been made on the directives of the Centre.
According to the instructions issued on Wednesday by the state government, Children completing six years of age on April 1, 2024, will be eligible for admission to Class I. The directives are in line with the NEP 2020 which emphasises developmental readiness and uniformity nationwide. With the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act 2009, the government has set the target of getting every child to school.
Class 1 Admission Age Limit 2024: Children below six years of age will be enrolled in kindergarten
As per the news agency IANS report, Basic Education Director P.S. Baghel has asked all district education officers to bring back out-of-school children and carry out enrolment drives till the end of April. The directives state that children below six years of age will be enrolled in kindergarten.
Class 1 Admission 2024: Aadhaar number of students should be registered
Accordingly, instructions have been given regarding the enrolment process for students. During enrolment, an Aadhaar number of students should be registered. In case students do not have Aadhaar, the details of parents would be used. If the parents also do not have Aadhaar, they will have to get one within two weeks of enrolment. The names of both the parents of the child should also be mentioned in the enrolment register. In the event of the death of both parents, the name of the legal guardian will be mentioned.
