Violet Grey reacquired by founder Cassandra Grey

Luxury beauty retailer Violet Grey is back under the leadership of founder Cassandra Grey, following its reacquisition from Farfetch. 

The company, which was sold to the luxury fashion platform in January 2022 for an undisclosed amount, announced the news via Instagram on Monday morning. Grey teamed up with private equity investor Sherif Guirgis to buy the business back. 

On Instagram, Violet Grey stated, “We have safely arrived back home, unscathed and remaining true to our simple, straightforward mission: to enable the discerning to feel confident in their purchasing decisions. We are looking forward to being able to deliver all the things you’ve always wanted from Violet Grey and that we have wanted to give to you. It’s all coming.” 

In this new chapter, co-owner Guirgis will serve as chairman and CEO. Sarah Brown, formerly the executive director responsible for brand and product testing at Violet Labs, will take on the role of chief brand officer. Grey will transition into the role of chairman and artistic director at Violet Labs, which is set to evolve into a brand development arm.
