Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis gave RCB a strong start by adding 78 runs for the opening wicket against Chennai Super Kings.
Bengaluru: Virat Kohli was left stunned after Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) captain Faf du Plessis got run out at the non-striker’s end against Chennai Super Kings in their do-or-die IPL 2024 encounter at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Saturday. The incident took place on the final ball of the 13th over. Reacting to a tossed-up delivery from Mitchell Santner, Rajat Patidar hit the cherry straight at the bowler’s end. Trying to grab the ball, the New Zealand got a fingertip and the ball deviated to the stumps. The on-field umpire went straight up for a review.
Third umpire Michael Gough had several looks in the replay and concluded that Du Plessis’ bat was in the air when the ball hit the stumps. The RCB skipper looked surprised and so as his entire team in the dugout. Du Plessis scored 54 off 39 balls, including three fours and three sixes.
Just look at the reaction from RCB team

Earlier, rain interrupted proceedings after only three overs of play. Asked to bat first, RCB were 31 for no loss with Virat Kohli (19 not out) and Faf du Plessis (12 not out) in the middle, when a drizzle halted play before it turned into a downpour. There has been a forecast of heavy rain across the city.
The match is vital for both sides as they vie for the final available berth in the playoffs. A washout or a win for the visitors will see them through. As for the hosts, they will need to win the game by 18 runs to better CSK’s net run rate and make the playoffs.
