New Delhi: Virat Kohli’s Instagram post on India’s T20 World Cup 2024 win has surpassed all records to become the most-liked post in Asia, garnering more than 20 million likes. It surpassed BTS member V’s (Kim Taehyung) previous record. Kohli’s post was the picture when the whole Indian team lifted the T20 World Cup on the podium at the post-match presentation ceremony. He captioned it, “Couldn’t have dreamt of a better day than this. God is great and I bow my head in gratitude. We finally did it. Jai Hind.”
It also makes the former India captain the first in Asia to surpass BTS’s record of 20 million likes on a post across all categories. To add more that, Kohli’s Instagram post eclipsed Bollywood couple Kiara Advani and Siddharth Malhotra’s wedding announcement to become the post with most likes by an Indian account. He also became the first Asian athletes with 20 million likes on a post.

This craze for Kohli also highlights his global fan base. Meanwhile, Kohli was stranded in Barbados for three days along with the whole Indian team due to Hurricane Beryl before a special Air India flight brought them back home. Upon landing, the whole Indian team went to PM Narendra Modi’s residence for a meet and greet session before flying out to Mumbai for the victory parade the same day in the evening.
He was a part of the victory parade from Nariman Point to Wankhede Stadium where they were felicitated by the BCCI. Kohli was also caught dancing with his teammates during the victory lap before he and Hardik Pandya sang Vande Mataram along with the whole crowd, the video of which went virat on social media. Later that night, Kohli flew out to London to spend some time with his family – wife Anushka and their two kids.
