Watch: Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar rides Royal Enfield Bullet to airport, complies with ‘car-free’ Tuesdays

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar took a Royal Enfield bullet ride on his way to the airport to promote the ‘car-free’ day initiative in the Karnal region. The CM, in the bid to curb tailpipe emissions-induced air pollution, announced ‘car-free’ Tuesdays in Karnal.
As part of this initiative, government officials were urged to take a bicycle or motorcycle ride during their visits to Karnal on Tuesdays, in order to create awareness about the rising pollution. As seen in the video, the CM is riding a Royal Enfield Bullet on his way to the airport while his security personnel are also following him on motorcycles.

Being a CM of a state, there are a set of protocols that need to be followed for security purposes. It is not a regular sight that you will find a politician of his stature taking a motorcycle ride in public spaces. By doing so, Khattar has set an example for other government officials and the residents of Karnal to comply with the initiative.

The CM took to his X (formerly known as Twitter) platform and tweeted “By taking a motorcycle ride to the airport, I played a small part in the initiative to combat pollution. I hope that people will be encouraged to sacrifice their cars for ‘just a single day’ and make this initiative a success.”
The Haryana government has been taking a number of steps to promote sustainable transportation in the state. In addition to declaring Tuesdays as car-free days in Karnal, the government is also planning to deploy over 370 electric buses in the state, mostly in the NCR region.
