Watch: Navy CB makes history as Midshipmen remain undefeated

The U.S. Navy features a healthy number of ships with missile-intercepting capabilities but it may have to re-name one of them after senior Midshipmen corner Dashaun Peele following his record-setting performance in Annapolis, Md. on Saturday.

Peele contributed heavily in Navy’s 51-17 bombardment of AAC foe Charlotte, recording not one but two pick-sixes — the first player in school history to do so.

Peele also became just the second player in conference history to record such a feat, adding another unique badge of honor to Navy’s impressive season.

The Midshipmen’s victory took them to 6-0 for the first time since 1979, per the CBS Sports broadcast, and sets them up for a season-defining matchup against No. 12 Notre Dame in Week 9 (Oct. 26). Historic rival and first-time conference opponent Army is also undefeated (7-0) with a future contest against the Fighting Irish on its schedule (Nov. 23).

Whichever program can vanquish the boys from South Bend, Indiana, may have the inside track to win the conference and potentially represent the Group of Five in the expanded College Football Playoff.

If both teams wind up undefeated at the end of the regular season, they could play one another in the AAC championship game before having to travel to Washington, D.C. for their traditional rivalry game Dec. 14.

Navy will travel to East Rutherford, New Jersey, to face off with Notre Dame next weekend at MetLife Stadium.
