Wayanad-born man’s name comes up in pager blasts case; Norway, Bulgaria, Lebanon cops on massive hunt

Rinson Jose, aged 37, is noted to have a professional background in the digital field, with interests in automation, marketing, and artificial intelligence (AI), as mentioned on his LinkedIn profile. The investigation into his involvement has intensified, with authorities keen to understand the extent of his company’s role in this complex and deadly operation.

Where is Rinson Jose?

Rinson Jose, who moved to Norway for higher studies and has worked in digital customer support for DN Media, is currently on an overseas work trip and has been unreachable for the past few days. His relatives, including his twin brother in London, expressed concern over his lack of contact, emphasizing their trust in his character and suggesting he may have been inadvertently caught up in the recent events surrounding the pagers and the explosions in Lebanon.

Jose’s family is worried as they have also been unable to reach his wife in Oslo. They believe he is a straightforward person and would not engage in any wrongdoing.

“We speak daily over the phone. However, for the last three days, we have had no contact with Jose. He is a straightforward person and we trust him fully. He will not be part of any wrongdoing. He may have been trapped in these blasts,” Thankachen, a relative of the 37-year-old, told the news agency IANS on Friday.

Companies involved in the pager blasts

The investigation into the explosion of pagers in Lebanon has uncovered a complex network of companies and alleged espionage activities. Preliminary findings indicate that the pagers were supplied to Hezbollah by Norta Global Limited, a Bulgarian company owned by Rinson Jose. Registered in April 2022, Norta Global Ltd is currently under scrutiny by the Bulgarian State Security Agency, which is collaborating with the Interior Ministry to determine the company’s involvement in the bombings.

Further complicating matters, it appears that the pagers were not directly imported into Bulgaria. Reports suggest that BAC Consulting, a shell company based in Hungary and believed to be associated with the Israeli spy agency Mossad, acted as an intermediary. Hungarian authorities had previously expressed concerns about BAC Consulting, noting that it lacks a physical office or manufacturing facility.

BAC Consulting is said to have facilitated the production of thousands of pagers for the Taiwanese company Gold Apollo, with some of these pagers reportedly intended for Hezbollah earlier this year. The use of shell companies is thought to be a strategy to obscure the identities of those behind the operations.

While international media have speculated about Mossad’s involvement in these activities, Israel has yet to officially comment on the situation.
