‘Wellness’ drink ‘reduces anxiety’ and can be made at home for 37p

From turmeric lattes to CBD matchas, coffee shops are evolving into makeshift spas, offering brews focused on self-care that rejuvenate both body and mind. Indeed, ‘mushroom coffee’ – a trend popularised by certain brands – has seen its searches skyrocket by 114% in recent months, according to coffee connoisseurs at Philips.

Celebrities like Jeremy Clarkson, known for his anti-anxiety properties, are even joining the trend, as he attempts to cultivate his own mushrooms in the latest series of Clarkson’s Farm. However, with Black Sheep’s ‘Lion’s Mane Latte’ – a beverage crafted using the popular adaptogen mushroom in powdered form – priced at a staggering £5.69, maintaining health consciousness is proving costly for coffee enthusiasts.

The coffee gurus at Philips have done the maths and determined how coffee aficionados can enjoy the same luxury at home for a mere 37p. Almost 94% cheaper than some high-street alternatives, the coffee experts have thought of everything.

By spending 15p on coffee beans, 1p on the electricity to power the machine, 9p on milk and 12p on adaptogen powder, you can whip up an affordable coffee without compromising on flavour, reports Gloucestershire Live.

Nick Dash, global product marketing director at Philips, commented: “With wellness coffee trends on the rise, £5 lattes are becoming the norm – and thanks to rising inflation and the cost of living crisis, prices are only going up The real secret to enjoying these delicious wellness drinks without breaking the bank is to set up your own coffee corner at home.

“With the right equipment, including a machine that brews your coffee just the way you like it, you can cut down on costly coffee shop visits. Plus, by switching to home-brewed wellness coffee, your machine could pay for itself in just three and a half months when compared to the cost of a daily wellness coffee. It’s a win for your wallet and your wellbeing.”
