But on Wednesday, Reid suffered a head knock that resulted in a concussion.
The 19-year-old has been placed in AFL concussion protocols and will be in non-contact training when he resumes next week.
“Harley received a minor head knock during training and we took precautionary measures,” general manager of football Gavin Bell told 7NEWS.
“I’ve spoken to him today and so has the club doctor.
“He is doing well, but as he has entered the AFL concussion protocols.”
Reid, last year’s No.1 draft pick, took the competition by storm in his first season with a number of scintillating performances.
As well as announcing himself as a future superstar, Reid won the Goal of the Year award for his incredible solo effort against Melbourne.
Meanwhile, new coach Andrew McQualter isn’t shying away from the high expectations on Reid.
“He’s going to have a huge pre-season learning a new game plan, which is a challenge for someone in their second year,” McQualter said of Reid on Monday, as he took charge of training for the first time.
“There will be no doubt some time to adapt to that but we’ll just look for him to keep doing the fundamentals of the game really well.
“We’ll try to set him up in a role where he can really shine and the expectation of him will be to give back to the group as well.”
