Restomods are so hot right now, with creative mechanics and designers the world over clamoring to take classic cars and fix everything that’s wrong with them using modern tech and engineering. From Singer’s meticulous 911 builds to the gorgeous Alfa Romeo restorations coming from Totem Automobili, there are some wonderful restomods out there today.
However, not every classic car has been given the restomod treatment just yet, and we want to know which cars you think are ripe for a restomod rebirth. So, what have you got?
Maybe you’ve seen the incredible work of Cyan Racing restoring old Volvos and think its time for another reliable European car to get the glow up it deserves. In that case, you might pick something humble like the original Fiat Panda. Or perhaps you like your restomods closer to home, and think it’s time to take a classic pickup and bring it up to 21st-century standards. Whatever ideas you have about the ultimate restomod build, we’d love to hear about them.
Personally, I think we need to pay some respect to the Ford Capri. It was a stunning looking creation from those clever folks over at Ford Europe, but never quite had the bite to match its bark. Surely, there’s someone out there who can put a beefier engine in it, refine the handling and rebuild the Ford Capri as the British muscle car that it was always meant to be? Who’s up to the challenge?
But that’s just my pick, we’d love to hear what ideas you have. So, head to the comments section below and let us know what cars you think are crying out for the restomod treatment to fix their flaws and give them the respect they deserve. We’ll round up some of the top suggestions in a slideshow soon.
