WhatsApp New Update: Users Will Now Be Able To Update 1 Minute Long Status

Users will now be able to share voice notes of up to one-minute duration in status. Earlier the time-limit was up to 30 seconds.

The new feature will be available on Android and iOS.

The Meta-owned messaging platform Whatsapp is all set to roll out a new feature to fulfill the user’s demand for a longer time limit on status updates. Users will now be able to share voice notes of up to one-minute duration in status, enabling them to share updates in a single recording instead of multiple ones.

Earlier, the time limit was 30 seconds.

The new enhancement on WhatsApp aims “to provide users with greater flexibility over their sharing experience, allowing them to share more moments and stories with their contacts,” shared the developers.

The new feature is a step towards ensuring more interactions of users through WhatsApp, said the company.

How The New Feature Works

To use the new feature, users need to simply go to the status update section and tap the pencil icon placed at the bottom right of the screen.

Now tap and hold the mic icon and start recording, similar to the voice notes in chats.

If the user wants to cancel the recording midway then they can simply slide to cancel.

After completing the recording, tap on the send button to update your one-minute-long voice-note-driven status.

Availability Of The New Feature

The new update is currently available to both Android and iOS users given that they have the latest WhatsApp version. To update your WhatsApp, Android users can simply head to the Play Store while iOS users can do so through the App Store.

Other Expected Updates

The new feature suggests a plausible future of longer WhatsApp status in the coming days. It is expected that after the extension of the duration on voice notes, video duration will also exceed on WhatsApp. The users will also be able to share videos of a one-minute duration.

Moreover, WhatsApp is also expected to be working on a few other new features such as Enhanced Privacy Setting. The instant messaging app is expected to provide users more control over who can view or can’t view their status.
