The budget session for FY24-25 will commence from July 22 to August 12, 2024.
New Delhi: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the full budget of 2024 on July 23. While the Interim Union Budget of 2024 was presented on February 1, the budget session for FY24-25 will commence from July 22 to August 12, 2024. With this upcoming Budget Presentation, Sitharaman will surpass the record set by former Prime Minister Morarji Desai, who presented five annual budgets and one interim budget between 1959 and 1964 as finance minister. Sitharaman’s upcoming Budget speech would be her seventh.
Similar to the previous few full Union Budgets, the Budget 2024 will also be delivered in paperless form. The interim budget, tabled on February 1, took care of the financial needs of the intervening period until a government was formed after the Lok Sabha polls, after which a full budget will be presented by the new government on Tuesday, July 23.

Finance Minister Sitharaman is slated to begin the budget presentation at 11:00 AM in the Lok Sabha. The duration of Sitharaman’s Budget Speech isn’t constant, it depends on the depth of the Budget itself. Nirmala Sitharaman’s six outings at the Budget Speech seem to highlight this, with her 2020 address turning out to be the longest. Spanning a hefty 2 hours and 40 minutes, it set the record as India’s lengthiest Budget Speech. In contrast, her quickest wrap was during the Interim Budget of 2024, where she rounded up the points in just under an hour – precisely 56 minutes.
