Dramatic footage shows the car swerving around other vehicles and avoiding road spikes as the man behind the wheel drives erratically before slowing to a stop on the side of the road.

The driver then tries to wave down passing semi-trailers and other drivers before he lies down as police arrive on the scene.

The chase began on the Henry Lawson off ramp on the M5 before the man pulled over and surrendered to police in Kemps Creek.
