Maharashtra Bandh Tomorrow: Will Schools, Educational Institutions Remain Closed? Read Here

Mumbai: The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) has called for a Maharashtra Bandh on August 24. The decision has been taken to protests over the alleged sexual assault of two fourth-grade girls by a school attendant in Maharashtra’s Badlapur. In a meeting held on Wednesday to discuss seat sharing for the upcoming assembly elections, the MVA decided to call for a strike in response to the incident.

Maharashtra schools in certain regions are expected to remain closed tomorrow, August 24. At present, the Maharashtra government has not released any statement regarding the closure of the schools. Therefore, it is recommended to contact the respective school authorities for updates. Additionally, keep in mind that most schools in the state are already closed on Saturdays.

The alleged sexual assault of two fourth-grade girls in Badlapur, Maharashtra by a school attendant has sparked outrage. Earlier on August 17, police arrested an attendant for allegedly abusing the girls. The incident has sparked massive outrage among the people in Badlapur. Meanwhile, Internet services were shut down in Badlapur and shops have been ordered to remain closed.

Additionally, a massive protest was held at Badlapur Railway Station in response to the alleged sexual assault of two minor girls. Protesters also pelted stones at police during the protest. Heavy security has been deployed to control the crowd protesting against the incident.

Till now, Maharashtra Police has arrested more than 40 people and lodged an FIR against 300 people following the massive protest over the incident that led to stone-pelting, disruption of train services, and lathi charges on Tuesday. During the Maharashtra bandh, public transportation is expected to be affected, thus disrupting normal lives. As there has been no official announcement regarding school closures, neither government nor private schools have declared a holiday yet.
