HAYWARD – A 39-year-old Hayward woman was killed in a traffic collision Monday night in the city, police said.
The crash, which involved a pickup truck and a car, happened around 8:55 p.m. at Hesperian and Industrial boulevards, the Hayward Police Department said in a statement.
The woman who died was riding as a passenger in the car. Police said she was taken to a hospital, where she died of her injuries. The Alameda County Coroner’s Bureau will release her identity once it is confirmed and her next of kin is notified.
The death marked the ninth traffic fatality of the year on city streets.
The driver of the car, a 36-year-old man, was treated at the scene for injuries that were not considered life threatening, while two other passengers, a 9-year-old girl and a 3-year-old girl, were taken to a hospital with injuries that were not considered life threatening, police said. The man and the two girls are residents of Hayward.
The driver of the pickup truck, a 46-year-old Modesto man, was not injured in the crash. He remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, police said.
