Woman who vaped for seven years is alarmed when she visits GP

A woman issued a stark warning about the dangers of vaping after her doctor told her she had severe lung damage.

Emma Kay, known as @emmakay60 on TikTok, shared a video detailing her shocking health revelation which has since gone viral.

In the video, Emma wrote: “Strictly making this for awareness. Vaped for nearly seven years, and didn’t give a s**t because I wasn’t seeing damage.

“Went to the doctor today, and got a chest X-ray, which showed ‘cuffs’ or holes and severe damage to my lungs due to vaping. This is your sign to stop. I ignored this until it got this bad.”

The video has been viewed over 4 million times, and sparked a flurry of comments from people sharing their own experiences with vaping.

One person replied: “For anyone struggling, I vaped for almost 10 years and it felt impossible. Then I read/listened to ‘The Easy Way’ by Alan Carr on Audible, specifically the vaping one. Hope it can help someone else.”

Another person shared their success, saying: “Two weeks vape free and I’m so thankful I’m on my journey to healthier lungs.”

Echoing the sentiment, someone else responded: “I just decided to quit today, and then I see this video. It’s a sign and I’m sticking with it this time, I swear.”

The NHS acknowledges that vaping nicotine is substantially less harmful than smoking cigarettes, and is regarded as one of the most effective aids for quitting smoking.

However, it is not without its risks, and is only recommended for adult smokers who need help in giving up smoking. Vaping allows individuals to be exposed to significantly fewer toxins and at lower levels compared to traditional cigarette smoking.

Switching from smoking to vaping can greatly reduce a person’s exposure to harmful toxins that are known to cause cancer, lung disease and heart conditions.

Nevertheless, despite its benefits for smokers, vaping is not entirely without danger, and it is advised that non-smokers and those under 18 should not start vaping.
