New Delhi: Delhi Capitals are reportedly in talks with former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh for a role in the coaching staff ahead of the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League. The development comes in after reports emerged that 2022 champions Gujarat Titans want the two-time World Cup winner in their coaching staff. Delhi Capitals have already parted with head coach Ricky Ponting in June.
Although Yuvraj doesn’t have any experience of coaching a team, but he mentored players like Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma. Following Ponting’s departure, it was reported that Sourav Ganguly will take charge of the senior team as head coach. However, questions remain as what position will be offered to Yuvraj if he comes on board. With Ganguly as the head coach, Yuvraj could fill in the position of a mentor.

They finished sixth in IPL 2024 and failed to qualify for the playoffs in any of the last three seasons. As far as Ponting is concerned, the Australian joined the Delhi Capitals in 2018. They finished at the bottom of the table in Ponting’s first year as coach before making a roaring comeback from 2019 to 2021 where team qualified for the playoffs for three consecutive years.
