Zero + Maria Cornejo Spring 2025 Ready to Wear Runway, Fashion Show & Collection Review

Maria Cornejo focused on her loyal clientele for spring 2025, creating a collection of tried-and-true silhouettes, fabrics and prints.

The designer utilized her signature sustainable fabrics for the collection, designing simple separates in eco denim, marine coupé, cotton broadcloth and other textiles to update her core silhouettes for the spring season.

Prints were a major focus of the spring collection. Cornejo produced a reedition of a geometric 2019 print, utilizing the fabric in classic styles like a tunic, trousers and skirt. She also used a houndstooth fabric for several styles that injected a youthful spirit into her more mature silhouettes. The Marine Coupé print also furthered this playful vibe.

“It’s just always the geometry,” she said about her inspiration. “I’m pretty predictable. For me, it’s always about the shapes. We design with our woman in mind, because the reality is it’s that time of year that you transition into spring after fall and it’s what you want to wear.”

The collection had a more casual feel thanks to the eco denim styles and printed garments. This aesthetic was also seen through loose fitting silhouettes like Cornejo’s jumpsuits, long shorts and tunics.

“It’s always an evolution, the collection,” she said. “If we were doing a show, it would be different, but we’re really working with the clients and seeing what they need, so it’s always a process and an evolution of give and take between design and the marketing and the clients and what they need, so that’s how we keep it going.”

Cornejo’s collection showed consistency is key in appealing to her customer base and how she’s able to update her classic styles season to season.
