Fans were quick to praise the Australian star in the comments.

“If I see that Nicole Kidman is going to be in a movie, I know that I will enjoy it,” one said.

“The greatest actress in the world,” a second said.

“The legend you are,” added another.

Kidman will be the first Australian to receive the AFI Life Achievement Award and the 49th recipient.

Her major roles include To Die For (1995), Moulin Rouge! (2001), Lion (2016) and the HBO series Big Little Lies (2017).

She has won six Golden Globe awards, a BAFTA award, two prime-time Emmys and an Academy Award for Best Actress.

Kidman has previously opened up about her first role in Bush Christmas, shooting the film in Queensland.

“I was 14, it was shooting out in the bush in Queensland, and I got to eat witchetty grubs. Do you know what witchetty grubs are?” she told W Magazine.

“They are worms that live in the earth, and they’re a milky white colour, and I eat them in the film.

“I wanted to eat them! I was excited to do that. I’m one of those people. I could go on Survivor and I wouldn’t be good at the climbing and all of the physical stuff, but I could eat anything.

“Just so you know. That’s my secret skill. Give me a cockroach, I’ll eat it! Spider, I’ll eat it!

“You name it, I’ve tried it. I’m adventurous.”
