A 94-year-old woman has set an example for the first time voters as she walked to a polling booth in Manipur to participate in the biggest festival of democracy.
Manipur Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Residents of Manipur are queuing up outside their nearby polling booths to exercise their votes in the second phase of the Lok Sabha elections on Friday. However, an elderly woman captured the attention of the people of Ukhrul Outer as she walked to the polling booth to cast her vote. What is remarkable is that the woman is 94 years old, and at this age, she understands the importance of her vote and her responsibility towards the country. This act of the 94-year-old woman has set an example for first-time voters and other voters who may be inclined to ignore their duties and abstain from voting.
In the video, shared by news agency ANI, the 94-yea-old woman can be seen walking at a polling station in Ukhrul Outer to cast her franchise.

Manipur Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Heavy Security
It is noteworthy that the Outer Manipur seat is reserved for scheduled tribes and has more than four lakh voters. It has as many as 13 Assembly segments in eight hill districts.
In view of the recent violence in the first phase of the general elections in the state, the authorities have doubled security arrangements to prevent any untoward incidents in the ongoing second phase.
Manipur Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Voting
The Election Commission of India on March 16 announced the general election dates. As per the announcement, the LS polls in Manipur will be conducted in four phases starting on April 19. Polling in Manipur will be conducted for 2 Lok Sabha seats. The model code of conduct has been implemented from the fist phase of voting and will remain in force even after the polling on April 26 till the entire process of counting is completed on June 4.
