Asia Cup: Ishan Kishan breaks MS Dhoni’s record with resolute 82 against Pakistan | Cricket News

NEW DELHI: Dynamic Ishan Kishan rose on the biggest stages in international cricket, hitting a fearless 82 against Pakistan in the crucial Asia Cup Group A game in Pallekele on Saturday.
The dazzling Ishan knock came off just 81 balls and was laced with 9 fours and a couple of maximums. Along with Hardik Pandya, who also scored a terrific 87, Ishan stitched an incredible 138-run stand for the fifth wicket after India got off to an embarrassing start.
Ishan, who was not a definite starter for the tournament got a chance in the playing XI only after KL Rahul was ruled out for the first two games, made the most of the opportunity with his vital contribution.
On his way to a terrific 82, Ishan also broke legendary MS Dhoni’s record for highest score by an Indian wicketkeeper-batsman in an Asia Cup match against Pakistan.
Talismanic Dhoni held the record for his knock of 76 in Asia Cup match back in 2008.

The Ishan and Hardik fifties helped India get to a competitive total before bundling out in the penultimate over of the innings.
Barring Ishan and Hardik, there were no significant contributions from the batters. While the top-order crumbled inside the first 15 overs, the lower order too had a poor outing with the bat as India folded for 267.
