Balenciaga unveils three-floor Tokyo flagship

Luxury fashion house Balenciaga is set to open on Saturday a three-floor flagship store in the newly rebuilt Toraya Ginza Building, a first in Ginza, Tokyo.

The flagship store’s aesthetic pays homage to the brand’s Raw Architecture concept. A deconstructed glass-paneled facade seamlessly integrates all three floors, reminiscent of the stacked structure of a parking complex.

Stepping inside, visitors are greeted by chipped stone and mortar floors, juxtaposed with slick resin spills and interlocking metal plates. Embracing sustainable practices, the store’s construction preserves existing elements, revealing layers of history while minimizing the use of virgin materials.

The new location will house the latest in men’s and women’s creations alongside exclusive offerings tailored specifically for the clientele of Ginza. Among these bespoke items are hand-crafted ceramic tea bowls and vases, curated by modern ceramic art experts Ginza Kuroda Touen, available in limited quantities exclusively for the opening.

As part of the opening, Balenciaga will also introduce an exclusive Ginza Series—a collection including ready-to-wear featuring Ginza Tokyo graphics, a Triple S Sneaker adorned with a Ginza Tokyo tag, and an exclusive colorway for Balenciaga’s iconic handbag.

Lastly, from April 27 to the 29, the flagship store will play host to an exhibition titled ‘Dresses Beyond Time’, showcasing a carefully curated selection of rare archival Balenciaga couture pieces.
