Alejandra Marisa Rodriguez created history as she became Miss Universe Buenos Aires 2024 at the age of 60. She is the first woman of her age to receive such a prestigious honour. Her historic win shattered all beauty stereotypes and proved that age is just a number. Following this, she is gearing up to represent Buenos Aires in the Miss Universe Argentina competition in May 2024. If she wins, she will compete in the Miss Universe World competition in Mexico on September 28, 2024, proudly carrying the Argentine flag.
Rodriguez expressed her thrill after achieving such a big honour. She said, “I am thrilled to be representing this new paradigm in beauty pageants because we are inaugurating a new stage in which women are not only physical beauty but another set of values.” She beat off 35 other candidates to earn a spot in the final day matchup against 18-40 year old contestants from the other territories. The runner-up of the competition was 73-year-old Iris Aliotto.

Alejandra Marisa Rodriguez was raised in Brandsen, 40 kilometres west of Buenos Aries, after being born in La Plata in 1963. She graduated as a lawyer after studying journalism at the Escuela Superior de Periodismo at Universidad Nacional de La Plata (UNLP). Later, she devoted herself to family matters and joined as a consultant at a hospital. She has been working there for the past 30 years. Besides this, she is a travel enthusiast, which is quite evident through her Instagram profile. Moreover, she has a soft corner for cats and has several felines, including a Norwegian Forest breed.
Rodriguez was able to compete in the Miss Universe pageant only this year after a regulation change in the age restriction. Since 1958, participants were required to be between the ages of 18-28. This revolutionary move by the pageant is embracing beauty at all ages.
