Buncrana man’s body returned home after Australian road crash tragedy – The Irish News

The funeral will take place in Co Donegal this weekend of AJ Doyle who was killed in a motorcycle accident in Australia last month.

Mr Doyle (30), from Buncrana, died after suffering what police described as “catastrophic injuries” when his Honda motorcycle struck a wall in Perth, Australia on Easter Sunday.

A GoFundMe page established by friends to help the Kevin Bell Trust re-patriate his body back home quickly surpassed the $10,000 AUS (£5,219).

Friends of Mr Doyle, who was hugely popular in Perth’s Irish community eventually raised $160,724 AUS (£83,018).

The funding will also be used to ensure Mr Doyle’s personal belongings are returned to his family in Ireland.

A memorial service in his honour was held in Perth where friends of the Buncrana man described him as a “thrill-seeker”.

In tributes at the service, pals said Mr Doyle lived life to the full, enjoying jet-skiing, quad biking and other pastimes.

Mr Doyle’s body was returned to his father, Jason’s home on Thursday.

His funeral will take place at Christ church, Buncrana on Saturday at noon with burial afterwards in the adjoining graveyard.

Mr Doyle’s family has asked for donations in lieu of flowers be made to the Kevin Bell Trust.
