Caitlin Clark’s boyfriend, Connor McCaffery, ‘out of words’ after win

Caitlin Clark’s stunning performance Monday in Iowa’s win over LSU had boyfriend Connor McCaffery at a loss for words.

Taking to his Instagram Stories, McCaffery — a former member of the Iowa Hawkeyes’ men’s basketball team and the son of head coach Fran McCaffery — gushed over Clark, who scored 41 points with 12 assists and seven rebounds en route to a Final Four berth with a 94-87 win over the reigning national champion Tigers.

“Out of words for this 1 @caitlinclark22,” McCaffery posted alongside an ESPN graphic profiling Clark’s Elite Eight highlights.

It was a historic night for Clark, who hit the 538th 3-pointer of her collegiate career to become the NCAA’s all-time Division I record-holder.

“It’s amazing to be back in the Final Four. It’s so hard to get there, especially with how loaded this region was. We told ourselves we’re the 1-seed for a reason. We’ve earned this. We deserve to be in these moments. We’re prepared for these moments.”

Monday marked the highly anticipated rematch of last year’s national title game when the Lady Tigers downed the Hawkeyes, 102-85.

LSU coach Kim Mulkey heaped praise of Clark following Monday’s game.

“She’s just a generational player and she just makes everybody around her better. That’s what the great ones do,” Mulkey said.

Though Clark is bound for the 2024 WNBA Draft this month and is expected to be the top selection by the Indiana Fever, there are still more tasks at hand.

“We want to win two more, and I think we have the power to do that,” Clark said.

The No. 1-seeded Hawkeyes will next face No. 3 UConn on Friday in Cleveland.

The winner will then advance to the championship contest on Sunday to face the winner of South Carolina vs. NC State.

Clark has had McCaffery’s support throughout this exciting season, including that special night in February when she became the all-time leading scorer in NCAA women’s basketball, surpassing Kelsey Plum’s 3,527 points.

The couple’s relationship became public last year.
