The Order was founded by King George V in 1917 to recognise outstanding achievements in the arts, sciences, medicine and public service.

Kate’s work since becoming a member of the royal family has focused on those areas — particularly in mental health, early childhood education and supporting the arts.

Prince William, 41, has been made Great Master of The Most Honourable Order of the Bath.

If you’re wondering if that has something to do with making sure the bathrooms in the royal palaces are kept nice and tidy, you’d be mistaken.

The Most Honourable Order of the Bath was established in 1725 by King George I and is awarded to members of the military or civil service for exemplary service.

King Charles was a Great Master when he was still the Prince of Wales, and others to have held the title include Prince Henry, Duke of Gloucester and Prince Arthur, Duke of Connaught and Strathearn.

Queen Camilla has been appointed Grand Master and First or Principal Dame Grand Cross of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire.

The Order of the British Empire was established by King George V in 1917 to honour a broader cross-section of society, both military and civilian.

Others to have previously held the title include Queen Elizabeth’s husband Prince Philip, her grandmother Queen Mary of Teck and King George VI when he was the Prince of Wales.

There was something of a celebrity element in the listings, with musical theatre composer Andrew Lloyd Webber (of Cats and Phantom of the Opera fame) given the title of Knight Companion of the Most Noble Order of the Garter.

The Order of the Garter is the oldest and most senior Order of Chivalry in Britain and is celebrated annually with a procession and service in the grounds of Windsor Castle.

Cancer treatment

Along with his daughter-in-law Princess Catherine, King Charles is currently undergoing cancer treatment.

Catherine is on leave from royal duties after cancer was detected following planned abdominal surgery in January.

King Charles has been diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer detected after treatment for an enlarged prostate.

In their absence, Prince William and Queen Camilla have stepped up to become the public faces of the royal family.

Charles and Camilla had announced plans for a royal tour to Australia in the second half of this year before his cancer diagnosis was revealed.

However, it’s understood Charles is still keen for the tour to take place.

“The King is raring to go and keen to get on with the job,” a palace source told The Sun.

The source reported the King is “over the moon” with how his treatment is progressing, prompting the King’s team to “supercharge” the Australia plans.

“Although his doctors are keeping an eye on his health, he’s itching to take the reins and get back to his public role as head of state,” the source said.

“He wants to follow his mother Queen Elizabeth II’s mantra, that he needs to be seen to be believed.”

The King and Queen are set to embark on a two-week trip across Australia, New Zealand and Samoa.

However, the insider reports the itinerary will be stripped back to allow for more downtime, ensuring the King has enough recovery between commitments.
