Courteney Cox ‘in so much pain’ when Snow Patrol boyfriend dumped her in therapy | Celebrity News | Showbiz & TV

Courteney Cox has opened up about the heartache she experienced when her boyfriend, Johnny McDaid, ended their relationship during their first therapy session.

The Friends star revealed on the Minnie Questions podcast that the Snow Patrol rocker blindsided her with the breakup announcement.

She said: “It was really intense. We broke up in therapy. I didn’t know it was coming.”

The actress, who is best known for her role as Monica Geller in the hit sitcom Friends, explained that they had sought professional help to discuss their boundaries and what they could accept from each other.

However, the Scream star was left reeling when McDaid decided to end their relationship within the first minute of their conversation.

She recalled: “I was like, ‘what?’. ‘And we’re engaged.’ “I was like, ‘What?’

“And we were engaged. And I was so shocked. I was in so much pain. I also don’t like surprises!”

Despite the initial shock and pain, fans will be pleased to know that the couple managed to overcome their difficulties and are still together today.

They were introduced by mutual friend Ed Sheeran. Meanwhile, Courteney is reportedly focusing on being a good friend to Isla Fisher following the announcement of her split from Sacha Baron Cohen.

Isla took to Instagram to reveal that she and her husband had parted ways after 13 years of marriage, initially keeping the news private.

Since their announcement, Isla has been spotted in London while Sacha has been spending time in New York. It’s now reported that Friends icons Jennifer Aniston and Courteney are providing support to their friend during this difficult period.

A source told Closer magazine: “Courteney and Jen were two of the first friends she opened up to over a year ago when the marriage started crumbling.”

They added: “Admitting how unhappy she was and turning to them for guidance and support at a time when she was at her lowest after recently losing her beloved father.

“Having gone through painful divorces and being two of her oldest and dearest friends, Courteney and Jen were there for her through the very painful process.

“They guided her through her lowest moments and gently helped her come to the painful realisation that it was best to end the relationship rather than hang onto it only to be unhappy for the sake of their children.”

Two weeks ago, Isla dropped the bombshell news of their discreet separation.

In a statement, she disclosed that their marriage had ended, revealing they had parted ways at an unspecified time last year and will remain committed to co-parenting their three children.
