Five-time Pro Bowl WR expected to make comeback with Jaguars

The Jaguars used their first-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft on wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr., but he won’t be the only former LSU playmaker taking part in their rookie minicamp.

According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, five-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Jarvis Landry is expected to participate in Jacksonville’s upcoming rookie minicamp as well.

Landry sat out the entire 2023 season after suffering a season-ending ankle injury late in 2022 with the Saints, whom he had 25 catches for 272 yards and one touchdown with in nine games.

The 31-year-old is now reportedly fully healthy and ready to make is return to the NFL. The Jaguars seem willing to give him the opportunity to prove he still has some gas left in the tank.

Landry has 713 catches for 7,870 yards and 38 touchdowns in his nine-year NFL career. However, it won’t be easy for him to make Jacksonville’s roster.

The Jaguars already have a crowded and talented wide receiver room, which is highlighted by the likes of Christian Kirk, Gabe Davis, Zay Jones and now Thomas Jr.

Jacksonville is smart, though, to add a veteran like Jones to the mix as he’ll bring a ton of experience and expertise to the team’s new talent.

As for Landry, he just needs the chance to showcase his talents on the field. If he can do so during the preseason, another team may be willing to sign him to its 53-man roster if the Jaguars are unwilling to do so.

Landry may not be as fast as he used to be, but the former NFL receptions leader (2017) has proven to have some of the best hands in the league. Several teams should be interested in a sure-handed and reliable wide receiver such as Landry this late into the offseason.
