“Just a nasty one,” Hawthorn great Luke Hodge said.

“Come up to do the right thing (and spoil) … You see there (hits) back of the head. Don’t want to see that.”

The Cats confirmed Stewart’s concussion at half-time with young midfielder Jhye Clarke substituted into the game.

The Lions are also one down after ruckman Oscar McInerney was subbed out with a concussion following a head.

McInerney spent several minutes on the bench being assessed before he was eventually ruled out during the half-time break.
