Horror moment teenager is mowed down by Sydney driver sparking violent brawl

Horrifying CCTV footage has captured the moment a driver appears to deliberately run down a teenage boy, sparking a violent brawl in inner Sydney.

A brawl was reported between two groups of people following a crash between a Toyota Prius and a Nissan Murano about 2am on Sunday at Elizabeth St, Waterloo.

Vision obtained by 7NEWS shows the moment, soon after the crash, when a man driving the Toyota allegedly runs down a teenage boy, sending his shoe flying and smashing the car’s windshield.

A confrontation then took place between a number of individuals from the Toyota, before a brawl broke out.

As the security vision continues, the violence escalates as knives, machetes and hatchets are drawn.

A group of men are then seen running away.

7NEWS understands the two groups were rival gangs, and prior altercations had occurred.

One of the occupants of the Nissan, a 17-year-old male, suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital for observation.

No arrests have been made at this stage.

Investigations are ongoing.
