New Delhi: Delhi Capitals opener Jake Fraser-McGurk revealed that he watched Jasprit Bumrah’s footage all day before coming to the match against Mumbai Indians after his brilliant 84 off 27 balls helped his team secure their fourth win in the ongoing IPL 2024. Riding on the Australian’s scintillating half-century, Delhi Capitals posted 256/7 – their highest while batting first in this season.

“It was pretty nervous,” said Fraser-McGurk on being asked how he felt while facing Bumrah. “I had looked at his (Bumrah’s) footage all day. But in the game everything goes out of the window and you just have to see the ball. It is good to test yourself against the best bowler in the world,” added the Player of Match. Fraser-McGurk’s innings was studded with 11 fours and six sixes.

Fraser-McGurk has been a revelation for Delhi Capitals, After warming the bench for the first five games, Fraser-McGurk has so far scored 247 runs in the next five games at a strike rate of 237.50. With David Warner still injured, Fraser-McGurk’s explosive batting has really helped the side to utilize the powerplay to its best.

The 22-year-old also added the level of the competition is on another level, much bigger than what it seems from outside. “You have to ride the waves of highs and lows. These innings are good for my confidence and for my team. From outside you don’t know the level of the competition, this is such a higher level than the other leagues and it is amazing to be a part of it,” he added.

With this win, Delhi Capitals registered their fifth victory in the tournament and replaced Chennai Super Kings to fifth in the points table. They next play Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens on April 29.
