Lucid Streamlines Air EV Lineup, Lowering Prices And Adding New Features For 2024

For its second model year Lucid is streamlining its Air sedan lineup, discontinuing some of the more niche trims, adding newly optional features and lowering some prices.

The base rear-wheel-drive Air Pure continues on with its $78,900 price tag (including $1,500 destination), but the dual-motor all-wheel-drive Pure is no longer available. The Pure’s powertrain is unchanged, but its range has slightly increased from 410 to 419 miles. New for the Pure is a Comfort & Convenience package that adds four-zone automatic climate control, heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, powered rear-window sunshades and soft-close doors. But the best upgrade is the availability of 20-way adjustable front seats that have ventilation and massage functions.

Also unchanged in terms of powertrain is the dual-motor Air Touring, which now starts at $87,400, a decrease of $9,100 from its already discounted price. Much of that price drop is thanks to the removal of previously standard features that are now part of the Comfort & Convenience pack, which comes with everything it adds to the Pure plus a powered frunk and heated windshield wipers. 20-inch wheels and leather seats are also optional instead of being standard. Those upgraded seats are available on the Touring, as well. The 2024 Touring has a slightly lower range of 411 miles, versus 425 miles previously; Lucid says the EPA’s range adjustments are due to updated testing protocols.

Lucid has dropped the Air’s Grand Touring Performance trim, which had 1,050 horsepower and other sporting upgrades. The remaining Air Grand Touring sticks with the same 819 HP as before, but Lucid says it receives powertrain updates inspired by the discontinued Performance version. The glass roof is now an option instead of standard fit, Pricing and range for the Air Grand Touring will be announced in a couple months.

Across the board the Air is now offered with a wider range of interior color schemes and material choices, including Nappa leather on the Pure trim, and the Pure’s Fathom Blue paint can be had on the Touring and Grand Touring. The Stealth Appearance package is available on the Touring in addition to the Grand Touring, too.

The updated Air Pure and Air Touring are available to order now, while buyers of the Grand Touring will have to wait until early 2024. The absurdly quick Air Sapphire, which just went on sale a few months ago, remains at the top of the heap with no changes.
