IPL 2024: Mayank Yadav Reveals Reason Behind His Bowling Speed

New Delhi: Lucknow Super Giants young speedster Mayank Yadav is making headlines for his bowling speed in the ongoing Indian Premier League. He broke his record of the fastest IPL delivery during the Royal Challengers Bengaluru vs LSG IPL 2024 clash. He bowled 156.7 kmph delivery at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Tuesday.

Mayank picked up three wickets which helped his franchise (LSG) to beat RCB on their home ground by 28 runs. While asked about the factor behind his speed he revealed that diet, sleep, training and recovery by taking ice bath are some of the reasons behind his bowling speed.

“Feel really good, two Player of the Match awards in two matches. I am happier that we won both the matches. My goal is to play for the country. I feel this is just the start. I enjoyed Cameron Green’s wicket the most. There are a lot of factors to bowl quick – diet, sleep, training. I am focusing a lot on my diet and recovery – ice bath” said Mayank.

It is also the tournament’s fifth fastest ball, which is second only to SRH’s Umran Malik in terms of Indian bowlers. Malik has bowled 157 kmph in IPL 2022 and had also sent down a 156 kph delivery.

Overall, Shaun Tait had bowled the fastest-ever delivery in IPL so far, a lightning-fast 157.7 kmph ball in 2011. Lockie Ferguson is second with a 157.3 kmph delivery in 2022. Gerald Coetzee is credited with bowling a 157.4 delivery for Mumbai Indians against Rajasthan Royals, but it was reportedly a technical error.
