Call of Duty fans were finally given a look at Modern Warfare 3, as Activision revealed new gameplay footage and other details during an in-game event in Warzone. The new Modern Warfare sequel will launch in November for PlayStation 5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and PC via Battle.net and Steam. As fans countdown to the launch of the next entry in the Call of Duty franchise, Activision has revealed more about the game’s multiplayer beta and campaign early access.
According to Activision, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 will be preceded by an open beta on all platforms.
While the dates are yet to be revealed, Activision has confirmed that the beta will be free to play, with pre-order customers receiving early access.
Fans can also access the campaign a week ahead of the game’s November 10 launch. Campaign early access will be available by pre-ordering a digital copy of the game.
Activision explains more: “The Modern Warfare lll Open Beta (dates to be announced) will be free across all platforms, with players who pre-order gaining early access.
“Players who digitally preorder Modern Warfare III will also gain access to the Campaign up to a week prior to launch.”
Judging by previous reports, the Call of Duty multiplayer test will run on PS5 and PS4 from October 6 until October 10.
This will be followed by a second beta for all platform beginning on October 12 and ending on October 16.
Indeed, despite Microsoft’s proposed acquisition of Activision Blizzard, it looks like PlayStation users will receive access to the Call of Duty beta before Xbox users.
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 is currently available to pre-order on consoles and PC. The PlayStation cross-gen bundle is priced at £69.99.
