A 33-year-old man has been charged with threatening two paramedics in Adelaide with a firearm when they were called to provide medical support.

The responding paramedics called police, and the man was arrested.

Polices said the firearm was a replica gun.

The 33-year-old man was taken to hospital for medical assessment.

He was later charged with two counts of threatening to kill, assaulting emergency workers and carrying an offensive weapon.

SA Ambulance Service said paramedics responded to emergencies with the “best intentions” to help patients.

“They cannot do this if they feel threatened or at risk. We ask that the public treat them with the respect they deserve,” a spokesperson said.

The 33-year-old man appeared at a local court on April 15 and will appear before the Adelaide Magistrates Court on July 23.
