This Gujarat man doesn’t wear helmet but doesn’t get challans or fines!

In a unique yet amusing case, a man in Gujarat has been able to evade helmet challans for years, despite regularly riding his motorcycle without wearing one. You must be wondering how is that possible since not wearing a helmet while riding a two-wheeler is a punishable offense as per the Motor Vehicles Act, 1998. Well, the gentleman has a unique yet concrete reason. His head is too big for any helmet to contain it.
Zakir Mamon, a fruit shop owner from Bodeli town in Gujarat’s Chhota Udaipur district, has been riding without a helmet since he bought his first two-wheeler. In a video that has been going viral on social media, the traffic police stops him as he wasn’t wearing a helmet while riding.

However, the police personnel were left scratching their heads when they found out that no helmet fits on the head of Mamon. He was even taken to a helmet shop to try out different helmets but the result was the same – no helmet was big enough to fit on his head.

Despite not wearing a helmet, Mamon was not fined by traffic police. It appears that the police understood his problem and let him walk away without paying a fine because his problem seemed genuine and there’s nothing that he can do about it.
Mamon’s story has gone viral on social media as some people have also expressed concern about his safety. In this case, the best bet would be to ask a manufacturer to look into the matter and make a helmet available, customized specially for him. It is unclear how long Mamon will be able to continue evading helmet fines. However, his story is a reminder that there are people who face unique challenges when it comes to following traffic rules.
