Tvs X: TVS X electric scooter: Gaming touchscreen, big battery, crossover design and more

TVS Motor Company today finally launched its new electric scooter, the X at an introductory price of Rs 2.50 lakh (ex-showroom, Bengaluru). After i-Qube, the TVS X will be the second electric scooter from the manufacturer in the India line-up. Bookings for the TVS X electric scooter will start on August 24 at midnight. Deliveries will start in December, initially in Bengaluru followed by other Indian cities by March 2024.
Priced at Rs 2.50 lakh (ex-showroom), the TVS X e-scooter is not eligible for the central government’s FAME-II subsidy. The first 2,000 owners of the ‘First Edition’ of the TVS X electric scooter will be able to avail of ‘TVS X Club Concierge Service’, enabling access to on-demand services, dedicated concierge services, and more worth Rs 18,000, says TVS.
TVS X: Design
The TVS X features a futuristic design language and is based on the newly developed XLETON platform. Using an aluminium alloy frame, claimed to be 2.5 times stiffer than other scooter frames, the TVS X gets three ride modes – Xtride, Xtealth and Xonic. Additionally, it also comes equipped with vertically-stacked cube-like LED headlights and selective regenerative braking.

TVS X: Features
Talking about the features, the TVS X electric scooter has received the SmartXonnect platform, known as NavPro developed by the two-wheeler manufacturer. The e-scooter gets a customizable 10.25-inch HD tilt screen, enabling functions, such as video playback, games and music. It will ride on 12-inch alloy wheels and
has an under-seat storage capacity of 19 litres.
In terms of safety, the TVS X e-scooter is equipped with ‘Smart Xhield’ offering features, such as geofencing, towing alert, smart hill hold control, crash detection, reverse assist, cruise control and overspeeding alert. Furthermore, it sports a live location-sharing feature for the safety of riders.
TVS X: Battery and range
Powering the TVS X electric scooter is a 4.44 kWh battery with Nickel-Manganese-Cobalt (NMC) cells, offering a claimed range of 140 km on a single charge. The RAM intake air-cooled motor with an integrated controller generates 11 kW or 14.7 hp peak power and a nominal power output of 7 kW or 9.3 hp. The TVS X has a top speed of 105 kmph.
The electric scooter sprints from 0-40 kmph in 2.6 seconds and 0-60 kmph in 4.5 seconds. TVS claims that the battery can be charged from 0 to 80% in 3 hours and 40 minutes with a 950W portable charger. Using a 3 kWh Smart X Home rapid charger, the battery can be juiced up from 0-50% in just 50 minutes. The portable charger will cost Rs 16, 275 (including GST).

TVS X: Suspension and braking
For suspension, the TVS X will receive telescopic forks at the front and a rear mono shock unit. Braking duties will be handled by 220 mm single disc brake at the front and 195 mm rear disc brake, along with single-channel ABS. The seat height of the electric scooter is 770 mm and ground clearance is 175 mm.
