Tyson Fury reveals ‘secret weapon’ at snap press conference ahead of huge Oleksandr Usyk fight

Tyson Fury has revealed his father is in his training camp for his fight with Oleksandr Usyk – dubbing him his ‘secret weapon’ as the bout approaches.

The two men will fight in Saudi Arabia in 40 days’ time, with millions from all over the world poised to tune in.

Fury struggled against Francis Ngannou last time out, only winning via split decision against a man who was taking part in his first professional bout.

The 35-year-old is brimming with confidence ahead of the showdown, which takes place on May 18.

And Fury, speaking at a press conference, has revealed his father has joined him in camp prior to the bout.

“Yeah, I’m training hard obviously,” he said.

“I’m in fantastic shape, obviously. And I’ve got a massive fight coming up, obviously.

“There’s no room for error, no room for any problems.

“40 days out, feeling fantastic and I know all boxers say the same like ‘oh s**t I’m having a fantastic training camp yada yada yada.’

“But I actually am having a fantastic training camp. I’ve got a good team around me, no complaints.

“I’m working very hard, got my dad in camp this time, got my secret weapon with me this time as well.

“I’ve got Ty Mitchell in, I’ve got all the boys, all the girls are in camp.

“We’ve got a full circus camp. Can’t do anything more really.”

Fury was also asked about his eye injury that forced his fight with Usyk to be delayed.

The two men had been due to face off in February. However, after the Briton sustained a serious cut above his eye, their fight was pushed back.

Fury admits that he was ‘depressed’ at first when the showdown was delayed until May.

However, the Gypsy King insists it simply wasn’t meant to be – while insisting next month’s fight will go ahead as planned.

“At first I was a little bit depressed for the first day or so,” he said.

“But afterwards, like all things in life, God’s timing is impeccable, perfect.

“Not late, not early, it’s bang on time. It wasn’t my time to fight for the championship then but it is going to be my time on May 18.

“So I’m really preparing fantastic for it.”

Fury’s promoter, Frank Warren, was sat alongside the boxing star in Morecombe.

Warren, like the rest of the world, is looking forward to the fight with Usyk.

And he also believes the bout is the ‘biggest fight of the 21st century’, while tipping his man to reign supreme.

“I’ve got my views, I know my views are right, but it’s going to be something special, something extra extra special.

“These things come along once in a century.

“So a special fight, two special undefeated fighters and the world is going to see who is the best.”
