Valentino Debuts Chinese New Year Capsule – WWD

Valentino is marking 2024 — the Year of the Dragon — with a ruby red capsule collection to celebrate the Chinese New Year.

In Chinese culture, the dragon is seen as a symbol of authority, honor and dignity, and has long represented imperial power. The Year of the Dragon is considered a lucky one, and the year is said to bring the ability to harness intelligence, leadership and creative pursuits.

Brand ambassadors Yang Yang and Yang Zi appear in a new campaign featuring a mix of Valentino staples reimagined in Rosso Valentino, an iconic hue for the brand and a symbolic one for the Chinese holiday.

The women’s assortment includes a signature red dress and red VLogo jacket, Valentino Garavani VLogo signature slingbacks, a Valentino Garavani Locò mini bag, a Valentino Garavani Locò bucket and a Valentino Garavani VLogo Moon mini bag, each done in saturated cherry red.

For the men’s, red and beige are seen as complementary colors, seen on the Valentino Garavani One Stud sneakers and Valentino Garavani VLogo tote.
