Watch: Butter fingers! India drop three catches against Nepal | Cricket News

NEW DELHI: India came up with their one of the worst fielding efforts in the recent past by putting down three regulation catches during the Asia Cup match against Nepal in Pallekele on Monday.
The Indian fielders spoiled their skipper Rohit Sharma’s decision to bowl first as Shreyas Iyer dropped Nepal opener Kushal Bhurtel at first slip on the last delivery of the first over bowled by Mohammed Shami.

Bhurtel got a thick outside edge off short of a good length delivery but the ball popped out of Iyer’s hands in the slip cordon.
In no time it became two drops in two balls with another Nepal opener Aasif Sheikh getting a life on the first ball of the second over. Virat Kohli dropped a sitter at short cover off Mohammed Siraj
Kohli swiftly bound to his left, got into an awkward position and fumbled. Siraj bowled an overpitched delivery as Sheikh attempted a lofted drive, the ball sailed through the air but managed to escape any fielder’s grasp.
Shami found himself unlucky again when Ishan Kishan joined Iyer and Kohli to make a third dropped chance in the fifth over giving Bhurtel another reprieve.
Bhurtel mistimed his pull shot that went straight behind the wickets but Kishan moved to his left and made a mess of a simple chance.
India’s first Group A match against Pakistan at the same venue was washed out on Saturday.
