What Vintage Muscle Car Should Be Reborn As An EV?

Dodge is the latest automaker to debut a retro-inspired EV along with Renault, which recently released the throwback Renault 5 E-Tech. Dodge is touting the Charger Daytona EV as the first fully-electric muscle car, which got our wheels turning and led to today’s question: What vintage muscle cars should be reborn as EVs?

Do you want to see a fully-electric Chevy Chevelle SS, Pontiac GTO or Ford Torino? Maybe an honest-to-goodness Mustang Boss EV, rather than that milquetoast Mustang Mach-E that we got. To be fair, a Mustang Boss would be easier to revive than a Pontiac GTO, but it’s not outside the realm of possibility.

It would have seemed just as unlikely for Dodge to revive the Charger both as a coupe and sedan, which it did in a bold but welcome move. It almost seems like Dodge’s marketing department tried to sabotage the release of the Charger EV with cringy advertising, but the car’s design is so damn good we can try to overlook the brand’s unfortunate messaging. Look, Dodge, just get out of your own way and let the EV speak for itself. It’s an outstanding car that might do the original Charger Daytona justice.

What other classics do you think deserve the same EV treatment? What vintage muscle car should be reborn as an EV?
