“Police have established a crime scene and are investigating the cause of the crash,” police said.

Local business owner Frank Jenneo said he always feared a major crash would happen if trucks weren’t banned from parking in the area overnight.

“Driving at night it’s not lit up, and if you don’t know the road, and you don’t know the trucks are there and something happens, and you lose a bit of concentration, you’re likely to hit one,” he told 7NEWS.

“It’s a death trap … this is an accident that’s been waiting to happen for a long, long time,” he said.
